Yeah, I lost my father in January to cancer after a 13 year battle. It isn't just hard on a person physically...mentally they struggle with so much too. For Ed, he's had that to deal with a divorce, and his continued struggle with alcohol. He's had a lot on his plate, but I still think he needs to clean up.

Why is it we can remember where all the wires go, but can never find a pick?

No doubt....and like habits/addictions aren't hard enough to overcome on their own. I'm sure he's acutely aware that has career is far from what it once was so i can imagine that weighs on his mind (in addition to the other stuff), though he seems to play it off in interviews. I sincerely hope Ed can get it together.

I've been playing pro a long time and the three biggest killers in this business are drugs, alchohol and suicide. I really hope he gets some help soon.

Well, if Valerie was pissed off enough to leave him for good, he must be beyond help. I've seen others drink and smoke themselves to death and this looks no different.

Here's what amazes me.
People WORSHIP a guy like Hendrix who died at his peak of a self induced drug overdose, yet they demonize an aging genius like Eddie.
Had Eddie died at 27 like Jimi, he'd be immortilized like nothing before or since.
IMO, Hendrix was awesome by the way!
Eddie's alive, and I think that's a good thing. 8)

Do the lyrics "hope I die before I get old" have any relevance here?

Let's face it guys: Eddie is great, that's all!

What we're doing here is Kill your Idols.

Anybody saw the t-shirt Axl Rose wore in the old days?

Eddie IS great.
I don't want to kill him. I also would rather he not kill himself. If he died tomorrow his music would live on but I'd prefer that he keep making music.

There are plenty of music icons that are aging gracefully, I just wish Eddie was one of those. He has his own serious issues he's dealing with (some of which aren't public knowledge) which are contributing to his more eccentric behavior lately.

I wish the guy well and just would hope he gets it together. Smoking a couple weeks after chemo increasing the risk of have a relapse just boggles my mind.

he should get his finger out his ass and quit all the bad stuff easier said than done i have played with musicians who have been drunk or stoned and some of them were fantastic but a couple were uwful, so ed should think about his fans and clean up before it is too late or he would end up like rory gallagher who died of cancer, sorry to be a bit harsh but he needs to stop being selfish
