Ok J , your on to something .
Again . I say that because your a bright guy , and plus you have cool kids that paint your nails . I absolutely love the kids painting and adding mojo to your guitars man . The coolest thing EVER that I have been privy to have you share with us . Ok so , this is a cool thread man . I have THE exact Marshall as Ed . And man o man this thing has been on some trips during its 40 plus years in service . I can say one thing absolute . No matter what mods or pedals it so unds the same . Awesome . Until I plugged in the variac in this way . Even powered down to no matter what , even the Ed magic 90 , it didn't matter . I did however, notice the instint Push Comes Shove tone . Man I was freakin shocked . It was very scary to do . Probably no scarier than turning the beast on 10 into a 3 thousand dollar cabinet . Man its always a risk . But this did become a game changer . I always used the variac or variable AC to do one thing . Power the amp and cab up properly . I ALWAYS turn the amp off with the standby on . Turn the stand by on . And Next time I power up I have the amp gradually raised from zero to 110 . While on stand by . Then I let her warm up . I then turn the power off slowly while on standby knowing its warm . Then I turn the standby on and power up from zero . Gradually I turn up to 110 . I then turn up the guitar volume and rip it up . Now with this set up , I do the same thing with the variac on 90 in between the speaker output and cabinet . Its a good time . A nailbiter for sure and my neighbors love me . It chases the bugs out of the house too . Old Marhsalls never die man , they just keep on getting better and better!
