12000 out of mostly leftover parts
Bought this Metroamp chassis as a factory second along with the turret board from George back in 2008 or 2009. Plan was to build a chassis to burn-in tubes. Well, that project never got off the ground and this chassis was gathering dust.
Friend of mine been jonesing for a Plexi-clone for a long while so I caved and told him I'd hook him up. Added the LAR/MAR PPIMV and some other goodies like NOS Allen Bradley carbon comps and Philips mustard caps. Also added the MM 10h choke which I really like.
Aside from MM trannies, built the amp entirely from parts I had around the shop. Cut it close on a couple values. Decided to add the IEC receptacle and the marshall-style fuse holders. Chassis was not originally setup for these so modding with a Dremel was in order.
Turned out grand, only needed a slight rebias after burn-in and tweaking the input grid wires in V2 to chop the noise a bit.
Definitely a groovy sounding amp and I'm sure she will sound better as she gets played.
I smell tubes.

Yeah had the 10H. Bought the OT and PT tho. Glad I'm on the lowest price structure at MM
This was a lot of fun (again) and every one I've built is each a bit different.
Have lots of ideas for building/creating other amps just not the time anymore. I started this one in February heh heh

Yup - know the problem. Other one is having a few bits left over after each build and then feel compelled to use them in another one for which you buy more bits, with a few left over and on it goes. Sadly I have build kits accumulated ready to go when time permitsworldoftone wrote:Have lots of ideas for building/creating other amps just not the time anymore.
