Angus Young Receives The Schaffer Replica
So it finally happened. Been a couple of weeks and the news has been out already, so some of you here may already know.
Mr. Ken Schaffer (the original inventor of the Schaffer-Vega Diversity System) and myself brought the Schaffer Replica Gold Tag Edition S/N 001 to him at the Warehouse Studio (Vancouver), where AC/DC are recording probably their last album.
I wrote the whole story here, for anyone's interested

Now. They're due now. We're making 30 a week and shipping them out. First batch of 140 is basically almost sold out already.

This is so awesome. I saw you post this on Facebook. I am so happy for you.
I would love to get one of those boost pedals that you have based on the Schaffer. From your youtube clips they sound like they rock!

We think that these are among the best clean boosts on the market. We're that bold.
But additionally, these are the only thing on earth that will get you that exact same sound as was heard on AC/DC albums from 1977 to 1985, Angus' parts. This is the real deal

Re: Angus Young Receives The Schaffer Replica
Awesome story- reading it gave me a great feeling in my heart when I read it. I've been an AC/DC fan since 1980 and dug backwards, preferring Back In Black and earlier LP's but still appreciating the later stuff they did. Their impact on the sound of rock cannot be overestimated. With your and Ken's device, this legacy will be preserved for the future generations to enjoy(If only we can some day nail down the exact EVH classic sounds as well). Metro folks are on it. Congrats to you for your experience. You deserve it!

Re: Angus Young Receives The Schaffer Replica
Very cool! BTW, I also hear some of that Def Leppard High and Dry/Pyromania tone in there. Could have something to do with Mutt Lange producing both AC/DC and Def Leppard during the same era! Some of my favorite Marshall tones are AC/DC and early Def Leppard. I like to take things over the edge, and this pedal sounds like it will do just that!SoloDallas wrote:Thanks! Re: Angus Young Receives The Schaffer Replica
Very cool story. What struck me is the amount of time that he/they gave you. He could have been, "Cool, let's take a picture. thanks, have a nice life" but he didn't. I think that shows what "Mrs Ellen" said is that they do it for the fans and when a fan goes to the lengths you did with the Replica, that means a great deal to them. That their music is THAT important to them.
Also, your take on his guitars and their set up, etc is what we all need to remember (I know I do)...the sound comes from within and through the artist, it is NOT the gear playing it self. The gear is a means and a tool. Do better tools work better? Yes, but the largest piece of the outcome is the person hold the instrument.
Well done!!!
So, what's the next project?
