My stack is great

Bought a 77 2204,77 slant cab w g12h 30 bass cones and a 81 straight cab w 65s. Everything is in awesome original condition. Date matched everything. And I like the sound of both cabs on there own but running the full stack is just rock. I live in eastern ky in the woods no next door stuff so i play very loud. I usually play on about 7 or 8 master vol. there is something about a 2204 I love have a Jcm 2204 combo that's great. When u leave the pre amp no higher than say 5 and crank the master it's rock and roll w a good cab. The g12 h cab to me is angus sound from that period. Personally. I think that sound was master volume amps turned up w not so much pre amp. They used em all I know but that is my fave sound. 77 78 79. Great tones never the less. I see a lot of guys who use the pre amp on those amps up on 8 and 10. I guess ok. But the sound w the master up to 7 or so is where it's at for what my ears like. Hope this finds everyone well. Play loud.

I am so jealous, I wish I was in the middle of nowhere with my gear. My neighbours are always complaining. :shred:

Well I been playing all day. W both cabs going. Anywhere from 6 to 8 on the master. Usually keeping the preamp about 6 this seams to acheive the amout of drive for anything i like. This is my combination. The 65s and the g12h 55 res are a match made in heaven for what I like hearing w a 2204.Real thick and creamy as can be. But it still has the cut from the g12hs. I feel very much like the sound is spot on late 70s angus. I wonder if he mixed those types of cabs???? The sound is very much there. Anybody out there have this same config goin on??? I have played a bunch of amps owned a bunch of good ones 71 super lead 2 71 50 watt leads so on and so forth............... But I have never had this sound. This 2204 is the most articulate amplifier I've ever played. Very complex sound. I'm sure there are plenty more around. I think I'll look for another one from late 77 w the same coupling, tone caps. They're cylindrical green w clear ends maybe they contribute to this amps mojo?? Not seen many amps at all w these capacitors. Anybody know who made them? The first 68 and 022 are mustards the rest are these cylindrical green ones. Must be a good combination the right plate voltage 385 or something. I have Raytheon and. Rfts in the preamp and old mullard 34s Wish I knew how to upload clips. My I phone wouldn't do it justice I know but I would still like to post some. Feels awesome to be 100% satisfied w a instrument/amp I rarely have ever been. So I guess this post is my excitement.
