PTP Layout Software

Post by Dunkmop » Sat Jul 27, 2013 5:33 pm

Anyone know what software people use to generate an image; much like Billybatz's layouts of the various amps in the 'Circuit Board Layouts' section of the forum?

I have drawn a schematic, and want to put it into computer form from my paper copy I have produced.

Hey man been lurking a while but this is my first post..

TurboCAD, AutoCAD or any other CAD program can do the job.

As far as free downloadable prgs, google free CAD and see what ya get.

Also, if you are talking about creating a schematic (not a layout) Microsoft Visio works well. I have done them in Paint too, but Visio has the schematic symbols to insert in your document. It's not free though. I think there are good freeware alternatives out there. I just already had Visio to work with so I never looked further.

@dunkmop, you can find millions of CAD software for this purpose. CAD stands for computer aided design. All you have to do is draw your circuit in the schematic section and the CAD software will generate a PCB layout for you automatically later. Eagle CAD is the most commonly used software for this purpose but it takes some time to get a hold of. There’s extensive help available on forums for Eagle CAD. A relatively new and easy to use software is Design Spark. If I was to choose one for you. It’d be Design Spark because it’s easy to use.
