Thats the sound of a Lar/Mar ppimv set low, v1 cascade or not. It does have that Mod5 voice though doesnt it. Good call Stef  .

Sounds good, if the price is right I'm sure it would do for a lot of people on a budget shooting for VH.

It isn't too bad but doesn't have the sag or warmth that Mark used to get. That being said, my days of PPIMV are over (said in Gny. Sgt. Hartman voice).

Why do you dislike the ppimv?

Isn't it out of the circuit when it's on 10?

You would think so, but no.

Lar/Mar is, maybe someone can say they can hear a difference but electrically when dimed it is like if the amp was stock.

 yeah, the same logic and theory goes for the VolumeI bypass cap, but George demonstrated the difference w/ and w/o the cap. Theoretically there's no difference but in real life you can hear it (just one bypassed cap) and in this case (PPIMV) we have more components and shielded wires involved :what:

Well, let's say that Lar/Mar doesn't make or break anybodys tone.

True, but it really had an impact by messing with the NFB. But the tone is much better getting the power tubes saturating. And as stef said and VG also showed, there is something there. Now would you hear it if you weren't A/B ing the amp on the fly? Maybe, maybe not.

But it does, more or less like any other potentiometer (ie tone control) in this circuit.
