Guitar World’s Upcoming Van Halen Cover Story

Post by vh1tone » Sat Jun 16, 2012 2:07 pm

Another Van Halen cover story this year! Guitar World’s readers’ longtime favorite guitarist, Eddie Van Halen, will be featured on the upcoming issue of Guitar World magazine. The cover story is “On The Road Again With Edward & Wolfgang Van Halen” with the tagline “I See Us Doing This For A Long, Long, Time!” We’re hearing that the interview gets pretty in depth about individual songs on their new record, A Different Kind Of Truth.

Guitar and bass tabs for the bands single, “Tattoo”, will also be featured in this issue.

This will be the August issue, with a street date of approximately June 20th.

I quit buyin that Kool-aid a long time ago. Waste of money since the ever fabulous internet came on scene and websites all have grown and spread. Plus....... we know more here than any magazine editor /writer will ever know about evh. And we have found some BS here as well in those mags. I will read it on the shelf then I will put it back on the rack and walk away.
Another thing that totally pissed me off was how Guitar World sealed their shit up in plastic while other mags never did. Like there was gold inside or some shit. And some of the transcriptions are total crap too of the songs.

Looks like they did some serious PhotoShoping on Ed's face. It looks very unnatural.

I would rather see a transcription of "Outta Space" or "Get Frosty".

The issue came in the mail yesterday. Quite a bit of VH content, including separate interviews with Ed, Wolfie and the guitar and bass techs for the tour. There are some good gear photos, including both Ed and Wolf's racks and pedalboards. The tech interviews get into both rigs in detail.

Well finally got my peak at it on the news stand. Great articles and interviews. Ed sounds like he is really reborn and finally happy. What impressed me was the interview with wolf. For a son of a rock icon/king..... he sounds so respectful, humble, honest, and very open.
How many guys his age in this biz would come out and say plainly he was hurt by all the nay sayers that he was actually playin and really singing? That kids got balls and and real sense of who HE is. And he is just up front and straight no BS about it.
While I liked to hear how happy and how great Ed is feeling-I found the article with Wolf very cool.

Wolf-your the bomb and your doin a kick ass great job! I stand behind you cause thats alot of pressure dude bit you seem totally like "fuck it-I am who I am". Thats balls plain and simple. Thanks for kickin these old guys in the ass again. Seriously-THANK YOU!
Not to mention your the one responsible for draggin up the old songs like Hang'em high and Hear about it later?
And are credited with bringin the old unheard back out again?
YOU FUCKIN ROCK!!!

Bought it yesterday for airplane reading. Good part is the interviews are good, nice to read about Ed feeling good and Wolf being in charge. Kinda funny. The bad, as usual, is the important gear questions ARE NOT asked. Again. Really unbelievable. And it's not just re: Ed, true of anyone in the rags.
