i need power transformer help.....

Post by rockgod212 » Fri Jun 15, 2012 1:17 am

ok im stumped on this......i hope someone can help me out with this......this is a ampeg vt60 tri-ax power transformer, i gutted the amp as it was trashed and im going to use it in another build. im stumped on a few of the wires coming out of the transformer, according to the vt60 schematic.........the transformer # is 94-611-20..........

2red= HV
violet= bias tap
green= ground
yellow= 12v tap which i dont need, as its for the original amp's switching/reverb circuitry
green/white= heater/ no center tap, so i did the 100 ohm to ground thing......

these are the xtra wires im confused about as they are not on the schematic, but i may need them for my build as im going for another 2204 clone......

**blue.......i need to know what this wire is for..........could this be a bias ground or 5v tap for rect. tube?
**brown/white......i need to know what this wire is for.........could this be a center tap that goes to the mains cap?
**both of these wires are in the same cluster of wires as with the 0-120v mains primaries.
**the blue wire has continuety with the top half of mains/primaries
**the brown/white has continuety with the bottom half of mains/ primaries......

i dont know what this means.....so any help would be great..... :stars:

ok.......so with some further testing this is what ive found.......
with the green wire to ground (as its the center tap) i got the following voltages AC:
red hv1- 425vac
red hv2- 425vac
purple bias- 40vac................i know thes 3 wires are all i need for my current build

brown- 77vac
grey- 93vac
brown/white-172vac.............im still curious about these though

blue-20vac
yellow-12vac...............i know these are just different taps, more than likely for the reverb and the channel switching of the amps original design........

so if any one has ideas about the brown, grey, and brown/white it would be a great help :help:
