YMI5150? Guitars Available w Classic Mojo

Post by YMI5150? » Thu Jan 05, 2012 6:32 pm

i posted a bump on the Guitar tab but want to link to it here since a lot of what I put into it came from efforts out of this group. I'll make a few a month if you know of someone who's looking for the tone we're chasing and doesnt have the time/skills to do it themselves. its more of a hobby and I wanted to put something out there that kills what we have to fork out for a korean "special". it comes with the vintage components to mellow out the DSD. sounds and plays sweet.

check it out.

I'm meeting with Eric next week to test drive it. we'll have some fun with it and get some clips posted if all goes well.

cheers!

we'll most likely get some good clips next weekend when we meet up. Eric and another buddy both have decent recording gear. Stay tuned...

Cheers

This is looking like a smokin' guitar and a nice product you are working on. Congrats, YMI.

much appreciated. its got the mojo and my favorite combination of components. the oil finish is so sweet feeling too.

I wont be making a ton of money off of them. its more of a hobby and something that I think some of us tone snobs are looking for. almost all my components/suppliers are here in the states and its cool to provide something that's actually worth what people are paying for it (maybe even more)...

Thanks for the gut shot. It looks like you have the coil tap of the DSD hooked up to the extra pot's ground lug, the one that in theory is not connected to anything in Eds butchered electronics. Am I seeing that right? Does that make the extra pot act sortof like a crossfade knob between single coil and full humbucker? Thanks for sharing all this.

I stripped out the audio from the weekend's summit that has the Model A. One clip is slaved, the other is attenuated. the clips have been truncated from the raw data on the Summit thread.
I'm interested in your feedback on the guitar's performance. One thing that will change on the guitar setup is the resonance pot will move to the front and the control cavity will be routed from the top on future builds.

This thread could also be used to evaluate the performance of the two amp setups. I hear the first and third record on the slave rig, second on the attenuated clips.

Thanks again to Eric for his hands and stamina and Mike for his recording skills and phenominal hospitality.
