Hey cut and paster, save your personal attacks for people that think you actually know anything. LMAO

I slagged SOME of what he does, obviously if I hated the guy, why would I post this vid? My remarks were over the Montrose STOLEN Les Paul he owns. Learn to read.

PS, I got more Gary Moore in my collection than one can listen to. It's a LIBRARY, Skippy.

Back to your cut and pasting, loser

LOL, all I did was post a clip. look at your sad insecurities....pathetic really.

I FORGOT the old mag articles you cut and paste regularly, letting the less infomed believe they are your own.

Sorry I'm a threat to the illusion you want to present, that you actually have an original thought.

Post some clips, instead of still pictures. Back your mouth up for a change

Gary as good as he gets... through a Marshall 2X12 it seems... Any idea of the model he played here? You can have a closer look at it in the Crosscut Saw cover with Buddy's band as well... Looks like it's gonna be my next amp... :)

Hey,after a little research it seems to be the 1923 Limited Edition 85th Celebration 50 watt combo. It's great! :D

:?: What do you mean Yngwie? That the 1923 is crap but that any amp would sound good in Gary's hands?

I tell ya, I am a big fan of Gary's, but the big fella (Buddy W.), was 'there' , wheras Moore was just 'visiting', concerning those tunes.

Moore, and many other's, may consider himself a blue's type player, but I don't buy/feel it. I think Moore is very good at playing 'pentatonic's' with the flatted 5th, but not stellar, 'cause he is too melodic by nature to be confined to 1-4-5.

I prefer Moore's soloing (never have been a big fan of his writing/song's) in the hard rock style. Especially when he could contribute his INCREDIBLE soloing capabilities to great song's. I especially like his soloing on Thin Lizzy's "Still In Love With You" off of '74's "Night Life", as Well as 78's "Black Rose". Phill Lynott was an incredible song writer, and Moore got the chance to make something great, GREATER.

Buddy was there indeed, but still, I love seeing Gary playing behind him like he's bored to death and suddenly he rolls the volume knob up and just rips.

(I posted a topic in the 50 watt section of the forum but no one has answered yet. I was wondering if I could come close to Gary's blues/rock sound with a 50 watter. I'm not looking for his rock tone, I know it's a 100W Superbass for that and I'll never get to use one. I think I might get into my fourth Metro build and first 50 watter. What do you think? Yngwie, you could be my guide here! My problem is also that I need to have an amp that can handle tones such as EC's Old Love so I may sound too bright/gainy with a 50 watter... Please post some answers in the 50 watt forum!)

Parenthesis closed... :D

Some videos from a festival in 2001, Gary playing his Gibson Signature model:

twistingcrow, the closest Gary used to a Marshall 50 watt amp was the Soldano Hot Rod, but that is radically different from the 1987 circuit.
Note the Dual Showman head Gary has in the backline, he used that on the Blues For Greeny project last.

Twistingcrow, there are LOADS of things you can do with a 1987 circuit. Basically the same as the 1959, but the output section is obviously different. Mess around with it till you get what you want. Simply jumpering the channel's can make a huge difference.

Old Michael Schenker (particuarly UFO's "Obsession" and "Stranger's In The Night"), imo, got the BEST tone EVER using late 60's to early 70's 50 watt head's.

"Obsession" was recorded using an older 50 watt head (same vintage as Yngwie's, late 60's-early 70's). but, photo's and footage show that by the "Stranger's In The Night" tour for that album ("Obsession"), Schenker was using the new 4 hole JMP 50 watter's. Still, great tone.

I think you could easily get at great Gary Moore type tone's with a Metro 50 watter.
