We've been documenting lots of my old cabs and parts in AutoCAD lately. I hired a young college kid who is studying for his EE Major with a CAD minor. It's working out great!
With these detailed 3D models (accurate to .001") it was only a matter of time before we would start manufacturing accurate replications of these old items. I have been in touch with a few new fab shops and have submitted our data for quotes.
So far, I have quotes for and have authorized production on two parts:
60's era metal caster cups for bottom cabs. See attached. Mojo has repros of these parts, but the dimensions were different than the parts on my '68 straight cab. So I felt we needed to make these accurate.
Aluminum threaded caster sockets. These are likely later 60's era parts, post pop-out caster era. But they were original on my '68 slant cab. And the best vintage caster part I've seen. Well worth manufacturing in my opinion.
I should have first runs of both parts in house before Christmas. Many other parts are submitted for quotes, yes including 3 piece metal cab handles. I sent my original to the shop and they documented it digitally with their Faro arm. Accurate to .001" No guaranty that it will be cost effective to make these, but I'll have a quote soon.

Man, Metro just keeps on getting better and better.
It's a shame what Marshall has evolved into.
When the price point is more important than quality, then you have what they have become.
