Symptoms of a Blown OT?

What are the symptoms of a blown OT? I was playing last night and my brother came in and accidentally pulled the speaker load from the head. I ran to go plug it back in, but by the time I got there the amp had blown a fuse and powered off. I went to turn it back on, but it just keeps blowing fuses. I'm preparing for the worst.

First of all, why did your brother do something like that?

Pull the power tubes and replace the fuse.
Does it still blow the fuse when turned on?

FWIW, I've had a similar situation happen - kept blowing fuses until I found an arc'd power tube socket. Do you see any charring on the socket? I replaced the tube + socket and was good to go.

He didn't mean to. I had the amp and cab turned around so I turn it up loud without it being too loud for the room. He just caught his arm in it and pulled the cord out.

BTW, the amp is an Orange Tiny Terror. I forgot to mention that. I am going to take it to my local tech to see if it is a blown OT. I was just wandering what the symptoms of a blown OT are. Like, do you see anything discolored? Is there a noise it makes?...

I am not really looking for solutions, but just symptoms. I've known my tech for 3 years and have become good friends so he'll do any repair work necessary.

Since the fuse blew almost immediately I'm thinkin' at most you may have shorted a power tube. Hopefully that's the case.

It was only disconnected for about 10 seconds. Is that enough to blow the OT?

Not likely but not impossible.
You don't need a tech to test it for bad tubes.
Here is a simple test.

Pull all the power tubes.

Replace the fuse and power it up, flip standby switch to play.

Does the fuse hold or blow?

If it blows, then you have a problem in your power supply.

The output transformer is not connected to the circuit without the tubes in.
Unless the primaries are shorted to the core, it should not blow a fuse without the tubes out.

So then you have to decide which power tube(s) is shorted or just buy a new set, rebias and go from there.

Was there signal going through it for that 10 seconds?

Tough to say...you can perform a simple check by measuring the DC resistance of the transformer coils.

2. Let me know if the OT is blown and I will mail (you will have to pay the postage) a new Organge Tiny Terror tranny set for free. I replaced a set with a Mercury unit for a friend and he did not want the originals so they set on my bench as paperweights......
