JTM 45 vs jtm45/100 Advice
New here!
Never had an amp less than a 100 watts.
I am seriously considering a 45 build, to get that break up way earlier.
So, volume difference?
I was planning on a jtm 45 and two 4x12s. mo speakers mo air!
How does a jtm 45 with two 4x12s compare to a jtm45/100 with only one 4x12?
Never play gigs with mics, except for vocals. So nothing less than 50 is really a option for me.
I like the heavy artillery pieces!
thanks in advance.

Sometimes people say "Hello" or something similar in their first post...yabasta wrote:New here!

The fault almost always is sitting in front of the amp

a plexi will always have a little distortion even at low volume. usually you'll have to play at 5 or something to get more distortion

Seriously, a 45/100 is overdriven at seven on the volume, but not like a '69 Super Lead is -- the 45/100 is still more punchy and bluesier than the later stuff.

Just asking general questions between the lower wattage and the higher wattage versions.thousandshirts wrote:Then think about a different amp.yabasta wrote:Jtm 45/100 hard to break up? not looking for cleans.
Im used to HIWATT, so most would assume those are clean as can be, to me they had great overdrive.
Done the plexi, jmp thing, to much compression for my taste. So im just trying a new route.
So i think this amp.

Remember that at half power you are only talking about a 3db drop in SPL.
So the loudness from a 100 watt amp to a 50 watt amp isn't that big of a drop.
But the character of a 100 watt amp is different.
Most 50 watt amps break up sooner due to lower headroom.
A 50 watt amp is still loud as hell!
