Good luck working with one hand. Seriously, dude. Start with searching the board on safety or google it...you'll find plenty of info on safety precautions working with amps. Search for discharging caps, or bleeding. Comb the forums....there's a ton of info and a lot of first-time builders have gotten through it with little problems...you'll learn more by making mistakes as you learn to build. If you're planning on one of George's kits, look at the build guides and start posting questions. Or, if you still feel uncomfortable, you could start with a smaller amp build like a princeton or champ. Or look at some of the basic info over at AX84.com. Do a search on books. The Dave Hunter book has a simple amp build at the end of it and is a good primer on amp basics, parts, etc. The bottom line is you're going to have to spend the time to research...there are plenty of folks who have documented their builds.

Some tech one told me that if you hold a super high ohm resistor between your left index finger and thumb and work with your right hand, that you can not get electrecuted because the voltage gets disapated by the resistor is this true or a bunch of croc?

Sounds like a crock to me.

Just follow normal safety procautions and be aware.
If you're doing anything inside, discharge the caps after you've unplugged, and check with DVM to make sure.

Other than that, initial start up and occasional biasing should be the only times you'll be inside with it on, so be cautious and aware, and you should be fine.

Heck if you're that wigged, start with a used valve junior.

I skipped all that, went from a BYOC pedal and wiring guitars for years, straight into a JTM kit. I made mistakes, posted pictures, got some great help from guys, and I'm rockin the hell out of it.

If I can do it, anyone can. Just use caution, don't go past the fatigue point, only work on it while you're capable of being alert and you'll be fine.
