At the risk of revealing my noobishness again, I wanted to ask if the JMP 2203 and the 800 2203 are the same amp except for the cosmetic differences? Also, If I wanted to make an EXACT sonic replica of this amp, would I need to have the same exact NOS diodes and stuff that Marshall used on the preamp? And if so, will you offer them? Thanks

What "stuff that they used on preamp"?
If you mean by using 10k v1-a cathode resistor and cascaded channels (or whatever the case is in the JCM800 and getting an additional gain stage) there's nothing much left as far as i know... maybe some different values in errr tone stack perhaps, but everything is to be down to resistors and capacitors...
As far as i can say, you don't need any of the NOS stuff, just get good quallity stuff, available at George's and you don't really need to look anywhere else.
It's not really a '66 JTM45/100 that you would be wanting GEC tubes and stuff... Just in my view...

Progress has been painfully slow up til now. But I have chassis in and panels arrived Friday! They still need to go to Rob for screen printing though.
The JMP and early JCM800 2203's are almost exact circuit wise. They did add a small cap on V1 to keep things under control. The kit will be a very close replica of this tone. I'll choose the correct parts for tone and historical accuracy.

Hello All,
Newbie here, enjoying and learning alot from this forum.
Will this 2203 kit be easy enough for a newbie to put together?
Just like most amp newbie's I have some electrical knowledge and have built many guitars.
I have a good iron and VOM.
And I am slightly psycotic.

That sounds ideal!

Seriously, if you're into soldering you'll be able assemble this kit.

That's the plan. I'll be updating here. And I will at the very least have one for people to demo.

George,
Any chance of getting some of these?

NOT the LCR but the ARS caps. I just put them next to each other to show they are the same size and color.

It will be tight. Ultimately up to the screen printer and whether I have panels back yet.
I'll do my best!

Now we are getting somewhere!
Finally got a few sets of printed panels!
Now I can start the assembly process and document everything for the instructions. I was getting nervous, the amp show is about 5 weeks away. At this point I speculate that official shipping date for the finished kit will be mid-May.
