Clean Up Tip!

Post by Ricky Lee » Tue Jun 21, 2005 9:24 pm

Most of you may have a way of cleaning up the solder splats, but I just wanted to pass this tip along in case it might be of help to someone. I'm really a Klutz when it comes to soldering, my joints generally turn out nice, smooth and shiney, if they initially don't, I keep trying until they do. But when it comes to splatter control the klutz kicks in and I have a mess. Well, I found a product that works really well, simple to use and is rightly named for me. It's called Ooops, and it quickly removes all the splatter without tarnishing the brushed aluminum finish and works just as good on the PTP board, as well. I purchased a can of this at my favorite shopping hole Wal-Mart. When applying, I use a Q-tip which seems to work really well, especially in tight places around tube sockets, between risistors and caps. Hope this helps someone.
May the good Lord take a liking to you!

I've got that stuff but never tried it on a "splatter". You mean it will remove the resin splatter around these solders on my Bassman?

I'd like to clean this up.

Thanks,

Worked on mine, take a look and I really haven't done a thorough cleaning yet, just got the big stuff cleaned up. You should have seen it before, looked like small-pox.

Can this product also be purchased from a store that doesn't hire illegal aliens, abuse its employees or support communist China?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Wrong forum.

Since Wal-Fart is our only major store within 70 miles, we have no choice. Ever heard the song "Down In The Boondocks" they wrote that song about our town. When I need any type of supplies, especially electronic stuff, I spend more in transportation to the place to get it than for the supplies themselves. You don't want to run out of solder in this town, only solder available is plumbers solder, that don't work very well on electronic pieses/parts.

It sure doesn't take much soldering on those Fender tag boards before they look like shit, does it Hazy?
I suspect the tag board will always wear its scars like a man......

Flames, you are soooooo right. I know it doesn't affect the circuit or the sound; but, it bugs the $%#@I6# out of me. Might try some later tonight.
