Ok, I am trying not to get confused. I get the two speakers in series then in parallel and that that tone sounds thicker/richer. The names on the diagrams have changed from the original pictures.

Mark, is not the bottom diagram essentially the same as the top left (one blue wire)? If you glance back at some of the posts in the tread, we have gone back and forth.

I believe what is also confusing is some of the diagrams have the speakers that are horizontal in series then parallel versus the speakers that are vertical in series then parallel.

Sorry to be dense about this but could someone write on the chart which one of the top two seems to be the thicker/richer versus thinner/more bright? I am trying to confirm what my ears are hearing.

Thanks from the dunce in the corner taking remedial ear training.

Don't feel too bad. This thread gets my vote as the most confusing, ever.

how can it be the same?
inb my image the bottom one has two sets of speakers wired in series and the top left on has two sets of speakers wired in parallel.

the image jim posted from Marshall is how my cab was wired. series parallel.

its not confusing to me anymore. the last image i posted is it...

so now that thats settled and we can see that marshall wires their cabs in series / parallel. where did parallel / series come from?

further more i have been calling it correctly all along.

when i say series parallel i mean there two sets of speakers wired in series.
when is say parallel series I'm saying there are two sets of speakers wired in parallel.

Thats right. The picture Jim posted is series parallel. Just like your 3rd pic on the bottom. The better sounding one. 8)

I am not quarreling with the "2 sets of speakers, wired in series/parallel" yields a better tone. What I am having difficulty with is the different diagrams that have been labeled differently. The original diagrams were lifted from another website, then the titles were changed at some point.

I was trying to label the pictures as which has a better tone.

From what I understand, the top left one, had the thicker tone. The bottom (Marshall/Jim wiring also had a thicker tone), the top right is thinner. Please don't tell me the series - parallel is better because I will expect Abbott to yell, "Third Base" next.

Second, the picture that Mark posted of his cabinet did not seem to conform with any of the three. I can not see four wires going to the jack. His wiring seems closest to the top left, as per the picture.

I promise to drop it after this. At least this isn't about EVH's shoes.

These all match.
These are the ones that "sound better".
