tubez i have been using VHT amps since the early 90s and have been happy with my sound ever since.........

Pete if you had a choice of buying an old Marshall or a V-Plex which one would you go for....from a tone aspect, not a resale or investment standpoint??

I own 3 Divided By 13's, 3 Komet Concordes, a Suhr Badger, a Top Hat Emplexador, a THD Flexi 50. an EVH 5150III- and one old Bassman head. So I'm clearly in the new/boutique camp....

Now I'm going to really put you on the spot, which of the amps listed above is your favorite! yeah, I know they each do different things but which one do you find yourself playing most often?

300 dollar difference from 50 to 100 vari, if they sound the same, might as well spend the 300 more for the 100watter?

Guys the delay was a new eventide time factor- on the tape delay setting, using a 100 ms delay, and another around 300ms... you need a bit more slap (100) than the longer one, just use a touch of the 300 ms, enough to make that Am chord sound rhythmically correct...

I personally think anything Eventide makes is outstanding. My old H3000 DSE, DSX and Eclipse were all A+. I had a feeling that Time Factor would sound nice. I am thinking of ditching my REPLEX for something different but it is the only unit that can duplicate the end of Eruption (besides the real things used of course) and it has a little drive to it hit the front of the amp. Decisions??!!

The new MXR carbon copy analog delay would be a great chose for that van halen type of delay,i have had mine for alittle over a week know and its a great unit, warm,transparent,660ms of delay,just a real nice unit.

Which are my fav amps- well, of the ones i own, I must say the Komet Concorde is a superb EL34- based amp and my ftr37 is like the most badass deluxe reverb on steroids tone ever. Those two are keepers in my stable. But i like lots of different amps fir different reasons.. For example, wgen i go to Linda Perry's studio for sessions, I rarely take anything other than my pedalboard and 1 guitar- she has so much stellar stuff there, I don't feel the need. I'm using deluxes, vox, hiwatts, marshalls, supros, a carr slant 6v... anything and everything at her place.

Peter, is there any difference in feel or tone between the vari 100watt and the 50watt? Are you still happy with your 5150 III or will you sell it off?

Im sure it sounds nice(5150 III) but im not crazy about multiple channel (3 channel) amps,i perfer single channel amps,multiple channel amps with effects loops,etc,etc tend to take away from the overall tone,plus in eds early days he didnt use multiple channel amps to achieve his tone,i think that that multiple channel amps are just cost efficent for amp companies and also you dont need to lug around multiple amps,just my opinion...

It's best at mid to hi gain. The clean channel, depending on how you set it, has a good tweed Bassman-ish or Hiwatt-ish type tone, that level of gain... but it's no Twin Reverb, or Vox for that matter. I could make do with it and only it on gigs- but as soon as you hear the clean on my /13 FTR 37 next to it, it's game over.

Buy it for the OD tones, not for versatility, that's what I think.

I would just love to have an alter ego to my Marshall if you know what I mean. My Marshall does the old school stuff so I was looking for something could handle the more modern tones and high gain, that way I have 2 good amps that can cover alot of ground.

I miss my Soldano SLO-100 that had all of the mods. Maybe a OD-100?? Any suggestions??
