Great stuff, Dave. You know I agree 100%. JB laid the groundwork for people like the "other" guy" who gets so much study. For all the discussion he gets RE: technique (pick-hammer-pick, pick-pick-hammer, hammer-pick-pick) I would like to hear our resident EVH experts pick out JB's technique with the bar, false harmonic, phrasing's etc. I'll go out on a limb and bet they can't (though I truly respect what they can do). JB is just head and shoulders above most. What would Mark say? You don't have to like the music to appreciate the talent and chops.yngwie308 wrote: Always inspirational to listen to Jeff he is the true master and imho dosen't get enough credit..still.![]()

Yes the first Jeff Beck Group laid the foundation for all the other 'supergroups' to come afterwards, including Led Zeppelin, as Page isn't adverse to using others ideas (as do a lot of people).
Because Jeff has such total command of his instrument and dosen't have to hide behind things such as affectations and styles, he is at one with the instrument and with his floating tremelo, he plays pure melody, it is at the essence of guitar instrumentals, as opposed to the Satriani school, of carefully rehearsed melodies, ect. I like a lot of earlier Satriani, don't get me wrong, it's just having listened to Jeff since the beginning, I feel his soul and spirit through the notes he plays, and he is still quite modest about his abilities.
He is at one with the music and is all about the song, not just the solos, which he describes as having to get out of, without getting in too much trouble
!
Flash to me, despite Nile Rodgers somewhat hamfisted production, just burns with, for want of a better word..flash!
Shredding is not the word here and it is one of his most powerful guitar performances.

Don't hold your breath Mike...
after the big reunion tour things are kinda quiet on the old VH front, imho.
As I always say, hundreds of guys sound close enough to the Dutchman, but none sound like Jeff Beck, I even saw a clip of Guthrie Govan playing 'in the style of' Jeff Beck, but it wasn't even close.
He is the Guv'nor.
Go GIANTS !!, Dude I was even praying for them at the end..
