1969 Plexi build. Help Please!!
Probably a dumb idea, but for my first real build I decided to do a plexi clone and I went all out. Chris ****** trannies and NOS mustards. Just started testing the thing and it's got a very low output. If I crank the volume all the way with a guitar plugged in I can hear it a bit, but nothing significant. Im suspecting something with the preamp tubes/wiring, as they just barely seem to light up. Also the voltage readings on pins 1,6 and 7 of V1-3 don't correspond with what's on the voltage chart in the guide. Another thing I noticed: in the V1 section of the turret board there's an 820 ohm resistor that appears to be 2 watt metal oxide in the guide, but in the wiring diagram at the end of the guide it's an image of a 1 watt carbon film resistor. I used a metal oxide. Is this relevant?

Hello Peter. Type of resistor won't make a bit of difference. As for your issues with low output, it would be best if you could post photos. I'm not an amazing expert on these amps, but I might be able to help debug your build with good photos. Others will likely come along at some point, as well. There are some real sharp people on this board who will be willing to help, but we all need photos.

you might want to sub in some casual parts as you are debugging so you don't "wear out" all the fancy NOS stuff
