Question for Fender minded folks

Post by dynaman » Wed Apr 19, 2006 11:18 pm

A local guy wants me to build him a copy of an amp I did for a buddy (tweaked 2204). He offered cash or trade for a Fender Twin. I don't know the serial #s yet, but he did say it was in great shape, blackface, original Jensen speakers and had turret/eyelet board construction.

I don't know shit about Fenders. Any general idea what an amp like this could sell for?

Hi Dynaman:

Fender Serial # are a riddle if it´s an old one. You have to look at the codes on the OT and pots.

Make sure it does´nt have a master volume. Fender made some amps in ´80 to ´82 that had blackface cosmetics with masters. I think Fenders remained PTP well into the ´80´s sometime.

This is the one you want:

And check out: http://www.ampwares.com/ffg/ for more info.

I´m not in the US, but it seems that Blackface Fender combo´s are getting expensive, but mostly the smaller ones, Deluxe Reverb, Super etc. Hope it helps. I´d go for it.

A blackface Fender Twin Reverb is one of the most desirable Fender amps. You can date the amp, armed with the serial number, here:
