Hi all,
I'm new here, but some of you may know me from some of the other forums. (old Plexi palace, etc...)
I recently bought a very early (tube rectified) 1965 Traynor YBA-1 Bass Master amp. (Basically a JTM45/ Bass Man) It originally had 7027 power tubes, but was changed to 6CA7s in the late 60s or early 70s by Pete Traynor. Traynor had put out a service bulletin that recommended a change to SS diodes rectification and my amp has had this mod. At the same time, all of the tubes were replaced with a set of Rogers. (made in GT. Britain) 2 x 6CA7 and 3 x 12AX7. I assume these are Mullards and the 6CA7s are actually EL34s?
My amp tech has tested the tubes, and one of the 6CA7s (EL34?) is dead. He recommended that I get a new pair of matched EL34s.
Does anyone here care to recommend a set? I wouldn't mind a vintage pair, but a modern equivalent might be the best option for me due to cost...
Thanks a lot.
