Schematics X, Y, Z

Post by rgalpin » Wed Apr 06, 2005 11:26 am

Trying to read schematics - and a have a basic question. There seem to be 3 paths - X, Y, Z. Guessing here - it seems like X is the power coming from the transformer, Y is the guitar signal getting pushed and pulled around, and Z is ground. Is that right?

Thanks

Actually ground is part of the circuit itself. Theres really more types of circuits in an amp then that: AC signal (guitar signal), the DC voltage that powers the tubes, the DC bias voltage, the AC heater voltage, and I think some consider the DC cathode to ground as seperate itself. Im not that lerned about dat stuff. Many of the components and values are chosen for purposes other then the guitar signal but still effect it because through most of the amp the AC guitar signal is superimposed on top of the other voltages like the DC on the plates and the cathodes and the bias.
