Post phase inverter master volume

Hello. If I install one these on a plexi, how would it effect the tone? I would like to get that cranked tone at low volumes. and i would rather pay 10 bucks for somethign i can install my self and have it be on the amp, then pay 250$ for a hotplate and have to carry it around and shit. But the tone is my main concern. O ya , i noticed theres 2 different ones to buy, which one is better?

it sounds pretty good for playing around the house, it has a little more preamp distortion.But it will not have the tone of a kranked amp.I put one on mine I like it.But I am going to get a hotplate also when I get some more cash........use the one with the 500k dual audio pot. here is a good pdf file to look at.HERE
