was away this weekend but had to do something before returning to work. I spent zero time calibrating my ears...

this is the exact same rig with the following changes:

muted an on edge Shure 57 i barely blended in before
moved the Audix on the dry side just a tad more off center

i like the direction its heading

I don't hear it...sounds the same as the rest to me. Just my ears, maybe i'm just missing what you are hearing?

Nope. No post EQ

U have to work a lot harder for the sizzle with the lower variac settings. Not sure its the way to go but there's some goodness here. Takes the highs but loses focus.

Too me that second solo just sounded punched it, drier and maybe center mixed as opposed to off left :what:

Here's a quick clip I did with:
- 12 Series
- Variac down to 90volts (at 70volts there just wasn't enough girth)
- DiMarzio DSD
- GE-7 with the volume fader up and a slight 1.6k boost

Didn't eat my Wheaties cereal so the solo needed to be cut out. What do you think of the tone, outside of there being perhaps too much verb

Great tone. Hairy and nasty with that GE-7. Shit ton of verb distracted it some but darn sure get the point. Nicely done.

thx dude. clips a bit too short.

hoping to get some decent playing time and clips out this weekend. helps not to have any builds going on...

Eric, love the clip as always. the right hand is always stellar. We need a summit focusing on variac and post processing. i think between the two, its as close as we'll ever get.

the post process compressor for me was the bacon on the grilled fillet. you can do so much with it, could easily be confused for a secret pedal on solos. dial back or add gain and bam. ed just jams on the same rig the whole riff.

Yes it's the Fender Cali on that clip. Kevin, agreed on the summit!

I liked Eric's clip...that sizzle seems more present.

I feel like the sizzle of a DSD is missed here...The amp sounds great, but that sizzle factor seems missing.

When is the next tone summit? And can I attend if it falls on my days off? 8)

happy thanksgiving all. particularly thankful for George's dream to supply all this for us, as well as chasing the tone dream with all you crazy people.
