The body of the "rude" guitar is crazy thick. You can really tell from the pic that Ed and Dave are in.

(careful how you answer. You may cause me to spend top dollar)
They are very close. In my guitars, the MM seems to be a bit thicker sounding meaning the frequencies highlighted are slightly lower than the DSD. If that makes sense...
Geez, I just went downstairs and played both and they sound nearly identical. :what:  :palm:
So would your opinion be that the DSD is pretty much home? No disernable improvements by getting the MM?
Cheers to the ears.

Good eye. It's the unfinished guitar from the pickaxe photos and the WACF studio session photos that he had made extra thick to try to compensate for the prototype floyd that was thinning his tone. The floyd songs on WACF should be that guitar.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

I was hoping you would chime in jimi!

That pic shows what I was talking about with all the white hex pole pickups that were in everything he was using, including the red franky, from '80 - '81. He was back to a black screw pole pickup by the time the beak was put on the red franky for the US Festival.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

He's been using the black screw pole p/u (again) since 1981.

I don`t think I`ve ever seen a pic of the Franky without a standard screw/slug pole pickup not counting the pics that some believe to be the Franky painted black before the band hit big.

There are pics when the Franky had the black headstock neck, standard trem and a white MM or DSD. I'll try and find those pics. This would be post VH2.

The best pics of it are in a Guitar Player where he gives a lesson with the checkered shirt on. The red frank has a white pickguard.

Jimi, what I meant was after whenever he switched back to a PAF style pickup, we never saw hex pole pieces again, such as the US Festival and Diver Down tour.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

Here is a picture with what appears to be a MM 1300 in Franky.

Sorry it is upside down. Just rotate it.

The pickup in that pic looks to be a standard screw/slug poles to my eyes , especially blowing it up

Cheers to the ears.

It's neither a Mighty Mite or a Dimarzio Super Distortion.

Here is one of those pics...

...as you can see, it's the same black p/u as in this shot...
