Yes for about 5 minutes playing through the 2204 50 watt head that you see with it in the pic. Was kind of hard to tell because the amp itself had a lot of noise in it probably from a bad tube and a lot of dust in pots and they were crackling a lot. Initially everything sounded very thin and bright with lots of high end/treble. I had to back the treble off to about 9 o'clock and the presence to about 12 o'clock and dime the Bass to make it tolerable to listen to. I really need to play my handwired plexi through it, something I am familar with to get a good idea what they sound like. I am currently negotiating with the buyer on a price for the amp/cab and will probably sell the amp if I buy it. If I can get something worked out on price and get it, I will post some mp3s for all to hear the cab/speakers.

Anybody know where I can get some plastic green, creme or black covers and some repro Rola labels for the speakers?

And thanks everyone for chiming in here on this post, much appreciated!!!!

Great, cool.

Regarding the covers, years ago after the RI greenback came out, you could telephone Celestion's U.S. office, you'd get a young woman with a charming British accent, and if you explained your predicament of having a few vintage greenbacks without the backs, she'd arrange for some to be sent to you with a current catalog, free of charge, all the way from U.K.! At least, that was my experience. I shared it selectively over the years and others managed to do the same.

This was very nice, but should add that the '90s RI covers, although they did have "Made in England" molded in, were bigger than vintage G12M covers, they would actually fit over a vintage T1221 that had the original greenback in place already.

Not sure what's up these days, but with Heritage greenbacks and new blackback models out, you might get some convincing ones out of them. Of course, in a sealed cab . . .

I like how in Jim Elyea's book, in some of the '60s photos of Vox amp assembly and boxing, you see detached Celestion "backs" around the shop being used as ashtrays, screw holders, etc.

Very Cool! Thanks, if I get the cab, I will give that a try.

Also was wondering, does anyone still make the exact same check grill cloth that is currently on the cab? Links? Price? - And, how hard is it to change Grill Cloth?

Any idea where I can get some Reproduction Rola Celestion period correct labels?

Glad to hear an update on offering the 'backs. I wonder if Jane Birkin is still handling the requests, I know it was her . . .

Excited by the prospect of reliving my youth I rang celestion uk, sadly no Jane Birkin or even a female voice :( just a company that doesn't sell cover caps shipper boxes in fact I asked him "is there any after market parts available"..."no" I was a bit pissed after all the years of using their speakers and no help what so ever :(

You'd think in this economy they'd offer after sales parts etc.

VK, did you get your covers by emailed the UK headquarters?

Lee Rivera is the person that emailed me from Celestion stating he could ship me some covers. Not sure but guessing he may be in the USA? I had contacted Dr.Decibel via the Ask Dr. Decibel webpage and the reply came back from Lee.

I have not received any yet and have not received any confirmation of them shipping though.
