I been wondering where you've been, Mark! :D

Govan's got chops there's no denying but to call what he's doing in the vein of Beck is nonsense. Beck never has played those kinds of runs. I appreciate the skill as much as anybody who has tried to play like that but to my personal tastes it's seems overdone. Almost like he's playing those notes as filler while he's thinking of what he's going to play next. It has it's place but not ALL the time.

We've been through this before. That's what my head and heart hear / feel.

In all honestly on the flip side of this converstion have you ever studied Beck's techniques? I would really like to hear you, Ralle, bmf, etc try some Beck stuff like you study the EVH stuff. Can it be done and (sound authentic, ie not like what Govan did) 8) ?

funny after i made the post i went back and thought he is not playing anything like beck and further more the backing track doesnt even sound like beck! fucking hilarious! its been a while but ive learned alot of his stuff, lead boots cause weve ended as lovers pork pie hat. etc. love beck for sure.

i think you miss out on a lot or stuff if as a guitar player you never got into/studied/learned some Beck.

Thanks! I grew up with that stuff and I still like it more than any current guitarists.

I agree with Mark. A player misses out by not taking in a bit of JB. I happen to like the older stuff....

The CS Jeff Beck Strat is very nice too. It's been my workhorse for a while now.

I just got the Ronnie Scott's Club show from last Nov. He's still on top of his game.

Yeah, me too.

Is that the newer version of JB Strat or the older model with the big neck? When they first came out I couldn't believe how big the neck was!
