I've got an old Dell computer that currently has two 8.4GB hard drives and one of them is starting to fail, so I'd like to swap it out for a new/used one. My question is; do I need to match the following specs from the old drive when I look for a replacement?
HDA/Uplevel: 08A
PCBA/Uplevel: 04B
Unique/Uplevel: 55A

Re: Changing out second hard drive question
Yo just can buy any 3,5" IDE hard drive. Well, if you see that is old I guess that is IDE and not S-Ata.
It's a desktop computer or a laptop?
If it's a laptop, then you have to but a 2,5" one instead of 3,5".

Re: Changing out second hard drive question
It's a desktop computer and both hard drives are IDE 3.5 units. I was always under the impression that the HDA/Uplevel, PCBA/Uplevel, and Unique/Uplevel values written on the hard drive were related to the control board that's attached to the hard drive....But just in case I'm wrong, I figured I would ask about these specs.
