Hi everyone,
I've recently put together a homebrew 1987 that I converted into a 2 in 1 using SDMs layout ("1959 bright and 2203" version, found here: http://home.comcast.net/~jbjdav26/1959% ... 20grnd.jpg" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). Plus a resonance pot, and PPIMV for the 1987 side. Man I'm loving this thing but want to tinker some more. Now I want to add another gain stage using Bainzys mod found here (http://forum.metroamp.com/viewtopic.php?t=15280" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;). I've decided against wiring it through a pot and instead set a fixed level for the gain with a 470k resistor. My question is this:
Where is the ideal place to insert this stage? I searched high and low but couldn't find any specific reference using these 2 mods together. I was thinking between the 2204 output coupling cap and the switch to the 2 in 1 (the white wire going to the switch in SDMs layout). Am I on the right track here? I'm no expert and want to make sure I'm doing it right. Anything else to be aware of when combining these?
SDM 2 in 1, plus Bainzy mod?

Re: SDM 2 in 1, plus Bainzy mod?
OK so I went ahead and inserted this in between the center lug out from the 2 in 1 switch and the mixer resistors. It works great on the 1987 side, but on the 2204 side...it does indeed engage but the sound quickly (almost immediately) fizzles out to nothing until I pick another note. ? And the tone seems way overcooked when I do hear it. Strange that it works great on the 1987 side but not the 2204, as I thought where I inserted it would be smack in the signal path for both.
Here are a few pics so you can see how I wired it up. Note: the wire colors only loosely match Bainzy's diagram, and there are 2 orange wires on the switch - the corner one coming from the "center out" lug of the other switch, and the middle one going to the mixer resistor.

Here's a shot of the full innards:

Any help is appreciated!
