I don't know why people actually bother with .1's in the PI, since they allow much lower frequencies to pass than the guitar can create in the first place. There are better ways to add bottom end.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

83.7% of all statistics are made up on the spot!

Any other tips to get some more overdrive in this circuit?

2.7k cathode resistor to like 1k (820 might be too much), bypass cap on v2a, less negative feedback. After those better go cascade. Or even better, 2 in 1! ;)

would that be V1B cathode resistor you would change to 1k?
sorry i'm still learning and I have no idea what any of this means "bypass cap on v2a, less negative feedback. After those better go cascade. Or even better, 2 in 1!"

Don't worry, you will learn! Yes I meant the v1b cathode resistor. Do some searches and read up on those other things, boatloads of info here. ;)

Turn it up!

Bass about 4, mids 8-10, treble 8-10 and presence to taste.

Use bright volume 1 and turn up to 8 with unused channel on 4 or 5.

Feed into a decent 4x12 and :hairband:

But yes, using a 0.68uF cap over the cathode resistor (820R) on V2 will give a boost to upper mids which feels more gainy (depends if you like a TS808 mid hump or not).
I like NFB of 47k resistor onto 8ohm tap which holds up well on a plexi as long as the rest of the amp is working well. If it is missing something when the amp is cranked (it has to be cranked to get the most out of this change) one thing you can do is to change NFB to 100k resistor (replace the 47k you have now) hooked up to the 4ohm tap, will give you more hair to the overdrive and you might like it, similarly a 0.68uF presence cap can work too.

Well the .022 caps on the pi caps worked nicely
I'm gonna wait till I take it out jamming again before I decide to try the rest
thanks everyone

just notice that one of these amps has a ovetone when playing a D chord
rings on after I stop playing and only with emg 85 p/u's
What could cause this? Would it be lead dress or maybe speaker whine or tubes?

Anyone?
would a sound sample help?
only happens when I use hot p/u's like the EMG85's
and only when playing a D chord or note
I can just stab the d note and a harmonic or some kind of tone will ring on after I have muted the note/chord for a long time
googled like mad and found nothing.
Any idea's

Did you try different guitars with emgs?

Emg's are not for this kind of a distortion. I have JCM 800 (it has more gain than Plexi) and for the pickups I prefer Passive Seymour Duncan SH-4. EMG's good when you need a lot of gain (JCM900, ENGL, Bogner, Rectifier, 5150, Soldano...), like if you want to use a Tube Screamer or Boss SD-1 and all knobs all the way up and your amp with gain at max, then EMG's will sound much better then passive pickups. If you want to use only the gain of the amp and may be some small boost (Tube Screamer with gain knob set to less then 12 o'clock) then passive pickups will be a better choise.

I have 2 guitars: LTD MH1000 deluxe with EMG's and Epiphone LP standart with SH-4 in the bridge and the stock epiphone pickup in the neck, and Epi is the winner.
