Re: NFB Resistor goes to?
Not so much pickup loads of shit in that area, but actually induce loads of shit into other areas. This is why the NFB line is best kept clean and away from other areas, as it can cause problems elsewhere in the circuit. This is why presence and resonance controls are often better off at the rear of the amp.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

Thanks again Roe. You confirmed my suspicion about the noise issue. Would it be better to use a push-pull pot on the front faceplate - perhaps paired with the presence control?

Of course you are right there. Induced loads of shit still though.

I build the whole circuit forward and route the feed back. Controls on front, actual PTP for it. Resistor feeds res then the wire.

Re: NFB Resistor goes to?
Perhaps just to close this thread, I decided to use a 68K resistor on the 8 ohm tap. I was after AC/DC tone and couldn't be happier with this amp. Sounds awesome just the way it is and no need to experiment with different NFB values. I have some NOS GEC KT66's and Mullard 12AX7's waiting to go in - it will be interesting to see if the added expense for NOS tubes is worth it.

I certainly will let everyone know how the NOS tubes perform. Right now I'll break it in with the JJ's and Shug's - make sure I got all the bugs ironed out before I plug in the good stuff.
