After speaking to a few amp techs and other i have decided to build a bone stock 2204 for the moment.

Then i have perfect understanding of that circuit i will look at some small mods and probably a PPIMV at some point.

I've sorted out all my parts list now.

Just a couple more questions, any particular brands of resistors that are good? I will e using mostly Carbon Film. For caps i was think F&T for the cans, SOZO and Silver Mica and a couple of Sprague 10uf

No idea about resistors brands...

For the silver mica, stick with Cornell Dubilier, or Vishay. You MUST get a decent branded type. There are a lot of no-named black ones around that are of rather dubious quality.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

Riken resistors - 5 bucks one piece :) They are blue and leads are gold plated! 1% tolerance too...

Hmmm, I've got a full set of Riken Ohm carbons in my 2204 build, and I can honestly say they are not worth the ridiculous cost. Best stick with Koa-Speer (spr1/2 and spr2) carbon films and save lots of money.

Use these: http://www.mouser.com/Xicon/Passive-Com ... pyZ1z0zls8

Don't let online amp forum BS hype affect your perception------ these reasonably priced carbon film resistors sound great--

Wow! Thanks man. These look good! And it's in GBPs lol

Seem so much cool stuff that i've been about to get then realised its all form teh US and not practicle!

Anyhow, for the minute i jsut got the ones Tube Town stock, wich are Xicon for the CFs. Not sure on the brand of there metal oxides and metal films. I will try different things along the way. Once i have the circuit tweeked to my liking i will spend the green on nice components :)

Those are the ones I used in my 2204 build.

Was my first "higher gain" build and after reading about the recommended resistor types I put aside the CF's and went with these. I'm quite happy with the result and think they're great for that circuit.
