Hi there,
Am complete newbie but used this forum to gain some great ideas ! Wanted to showcase my dads 2'nd build of the last year - the first being an awesome Vox AC30 - But this project started with a conversation along the lines of "I've got a spare power transformer and am going to build you a bluesbreaker".......One thing led to another , and I ended up with a custom JTM50 !
Am sure there are many purists who will find a few faults - Yes , Faceplate says JTM45 but is a JTM50 (Original Drake Transformer set) - And Yep , I decided that I liked the Randy Rhodes White Marshalls so spec'd that - nice to be different !
The result is staggering - Sound driven by 2 x Vintage 30's and 2 G12H30 70th Anniversary Celestions. This is so loud , I have to have volume set between 0 and 1 in my study !! But I really hope you can appreciate this fine home build - I love it !!
Next Post will show the cabinet and finished Article !

Looks cool and clean. Surprized to see Aplha Switch Selector for 4, 8 and 16 loads.
If you use only one speaker output, you can use another hole for Post PI Master Volume. I set mine for about 75% and I can set MV on 2! Sounds mutch better! I have built a jcm 800 on that same chassis...

Nice tidy build! Any heater hum?
I do not see any RR switching?
Here is a way of putting it in your amp:
http://home.comcast.net/~jbjdav26/1959RR1wireswitch.jpg
You would need to swap V1 to split cathode and choose the value of the V1a RK to taste (10uF/1k5 would be my choice) to get the RR cascade to sound good and not too muddy.

Re: Proud to Show JTM50 Build !
Thanks for the comments so far - will consult with Dad and come back with replies - OK , so now need to show the finished article in its full glory...........
So , head built from scratch - Sorry to the purists - we had to use Vox corners as router would not allow enough curvature to fit correct marshall ones. The cab was originally a used Line 6 Spider 412 cab I picked up from Andertons - Stripped it back to bare wood and was rebuilt and dressed etc and plumbed in the 4 new Celestions. Most parts came from SolSound (Excellent supplier BTW) , Transformer kit came from JellyFish Audio. I think it looks stunning - as I say , I took inspiaration from the Randy Rhodes line as I think Marshalls look amazing in White - It sounds amazing. No real hum . Ref the power selector , it allows for 8 and 16 Ohm operation - 4 is disabled. Was contemplating using a Marshall Power Brake or similar Soak device to allow more volume at home - will check out the comments posted - Thanks for that !
Just want to say a huge thanks to my Dad for doing this - Luckily he loves amaps and I will also post images of his Handbuilt AC30 complete with Alnico blues - It is truly stunning - and authentic down to the serial plate on the back - Legend !
Note to self - Must resize pics better - sorry !
