I think the tone absolutely screams and I can never seem to get that out of my 100 watter. I know a lot of it is probably in his fingers and pickups but since it is "slightly modded".... Im curious as to what the mods are, and If its possible for an ameteur kitbuilder like myself to do it... anyone have any ideas?

Re: What did george do?
Sounds very typical 2203 circuit to me, with probably just a lowered cathode resistor on v1 (normally the 10K resistor is the prime candidate for this, since that half is biased rather cold). Maybe a couple of mild tonal tweaks and or filtering. Certainly nothing out of the ordinary. The standard 2203 circuit will get you pretty close, and it's just a few minor adjustments from there if need be. There is certainly nothing radically different from a normal 2203 that I hear in that vid.
So I like purple, okay!!!!!!

We speculated a bit here!

George was a bit vague about exactly what was done.
I like the tones too. My 50w 2in1 gets there but not a stock 2203.
