.....and have any faith in sellers from Thailand, check this freakin' chassis auction out:

That chassis looks awesome!!! I'd pop on it and move my Dumble clone in there, but I have an innate distrust of the seller's location......

Wow. That is pretty cool isnt it. Im not much for those Dumbles but that is a spot on repro from the pics Ive seen of the 60/70s ODSs. If I could take on another amp from scratch any time soon Id probably get it on principal. The 70s amps get that cool Kid Charlamagne tone. I wouldnt feel that wierd because its only $100. Not much to gain after ripping you off. Then again you cant really do anything about it if it never shows up.

I was toying with the idea of moving my clone to a new chassis but I don't think I'll have money coming in before that auction ends. C'est la vie.

Did you ever mod the power supply to the dumble layout? The voltages and extra filter for V1 supposedly make a huge difference.

No, I let the voltages ride at whatever they hit (and I don't remember what that was now) but the basic filtering arrangement was about right -- I punched holes in the chassis for filter cans to get that the way it was shown. And the amp does do a pretty convincing Robben Ford.
I'm not entirely happy with the layout as it ended up in that Bassman 100 chassis though. I'm thinking of getting a chassis and transformers to move the Dumble into, where I can lay things out around a relay switching arrangement for the boost and clean/OD, and shorten some of the grid runs. Probably another 17x10x3 chassis so there's plenty of space, and I can make it look nice. And adjust the voltages more to what everyone guesses the spec to be.

How are you making out with this?

Its funny. Your thinking about getting a new chassis and tranys for the Dumble you built but then, whats left of the Bassman you bought specifically for this project :) Ive been there. After it passes the test and you find it 'chassis/transformer' worthy you nix the Fender stuff, after all, you can always use another set of fender guts anyway :) I have a few.

I haven't done anything with it yet, I'm getting sucked into '67 plexi/JTM100 build ideas.
That guy has had at least one more of those chassis' up on the 'Bay since then.
