I remember reading a post from the Sozo guy that the two kinds of caps he makes were suited for different types of amps... something along the lines of, "The "vintage" caps are better for JTM45's and the regular ones were better in Plexi's." ... or something like that.
I searched but I can't find the thread that was in, can someone find it and post a link?
Thanks in advance!

I just bought a set of premium caps for my Hendrix clone. Waiting to try them out.

john at sozo recommended premiums for the jtm/bass circuit and standards for the later lead circuit (33k/500pf, .68uf etc etc)

I think John said that the premiums didn't have quite as much bass as the standard caps, so they worked better in the JTM circuit to reduce the bass response of that circuit. When I compare my two 50w lead spec amps, the standard SoZo caps have more bass than the Vintage SoZo caps, so he's right about what to use them in.Roe wrote:john at sozo recommended premiums for the jtm/bass circuit and standards for the later lead circuit (33k/500pf, .68uf etc etc)

the premiums also have less high highs. they simply have a narrower bandwidth

I spoke with John on his Vintage vs Standards, and basically the Vintage was purposely made with a higher ESR rating (Equivalent Series Resistance) than the standards. This would amount to the narrower bandwidth that you guys are hearing.
