can i set up the normal channel to be useable, why not
what would stop me from setting up my normal channel to sound like a shared cathode amp. Of course i would have to double the resistor, using prob a 1640 Ohm and probably a 25mf cap across...along with adding a cap across that channels tone stack resistor(maybe a 250pf)...but the question is....will this change affect the treble channel???? Or harm the amp in any way???

Are you saying that it will affect the sound of channel1????

No you won't harm the amp with those kind of changes. Changing the normal channel's cathode will effect current draw and thus the voltages through the B+ line a bit, probably no big deal there (and you can account for that by tweaking the dropping/decoupling resistor if you really wanted to), but adding a cap across the normal channel mixer will effect the bright tone as that added cap will be able to roll off the bright channel highs, especially if using the bright channel with normal volume set all the way down.VintWeasel wrote:what would stop me from setting up my normal channel to sound like a shared cathode amp. HHHMMMMMmmmmm
HMMMMIl l have to experiment. No sense leaving that normal channel there unused(i never use it), when i could set it up as another useable option. As my amp is a split cathode, my goal is to set the normal channel up as a shared cathode amp, thus having both tones available...a split and shared cathode tone on 1 amp.... But i am happy with the treble channels sound, and i dont want it affected in any way..
