Finally got around to replacing all the Zoso's with Mallorys in my 69 build. Cheaper, easy to get and I think sound better.

I am going to be doing the same thing here soon. The SoZo Next Gen fell apart after a year. Got dark after time. My buddy re-capped all his builds with Mallorys and he said the amps came alive. Both 50watt and 100watt Plexi clones. And a 100watt 2203. Said it was like taking a blanket off the amps.

I just had Mallorys replace the SoZo's in my 2203 clone and will being doing my 50watt Plexi.

I have no idea why the SoZo's fall apart like that. They get too dark and super low middy. Freaking can't stand those things and won't be going back. Its Mallory all the way!

Mallory's are very very very very bright.

Here's a 68 with Orange Drops and a Boss SD-1 modded to TS808

Axeman, I've always said I hate orange drops. They are too hifi. Now this and R/T Michael's clips are proving me wrong. That sounds amazing!! Better than the original even!! Love the string sound! Dynamic and no flubbness.

Which Orange Drops are you guys referring to? They come in two flavors: Polyester and Polypropylene. SBE (formerly Sprague) 715P and 716P are polypropylene and SBE 225P, 416P, and the old (extinct) Mallory PVC series are polyester.
