I have a USA Wolfgang and love it. But, I wanted to get a special model so I got a black special with a Floyd on it. However, the neck was messed up; I couldn't get it to set up right and it fretted out on the 3rt, 4th, ND 5th low e string. So, I returned it, but while I was there, they had a stealth model with an ebony neck. I have been a maple guy since I can remember. I still love maple and its my first choice, but I am really liking the ebony... Matter of fact, I had never even played an ebony neck prior to this one, but I have fallen in love with it!!!
Once question though; my other Wolfgang Special had a sticker that said it was made in Japan, but the Stealth has a branded area that says made in China. Is this common? In other words, are they made in both Japan and China? I only ask because I thought they were made only in Japan?
Thank you for any input as I am just curious!

Re: Stealth
PV jad a usa standard AND a usa special-these specials are the plain jane strat opaque colored or sunburst with no flame or quilt maple. To have a usa flame flat top special is really rare but they DO exist. Very few of those though.
If you have a flat top quilt or flame odds are it was the EXP special. Exp stands for export. These necks have super thin light satin ginishes. All usa models have no finish-only oil.
I really like the usa flat figured tops-they shoulda built the shit out of those. It was more like the EBMM-which I like as well.
My les paul has ebony and I like it for its brighter snap as opposed to rosewood myself.

Re: Stealth
He's talking about the EVH models not the Peavey.
EVH has recently changed production loctaion of the specials from Japan to China. hence the differing origins of your guitars.

"Can I have stripes with that?"

Hey thnx for the replies; I was speaking of the EVH models. Now that I have had it for a few days, I have to say I am really enjoying the guitar. I usually have buyer remorse on any guitars I buy; but there is nothing about the stealth I don't like. Only one small flaw in it thus far is that the G string kept going flat even when locked down. I checked everything and couldn't figure out why until I that one of the screws that goes through the back of the neck to hold the nut was a little too long. Hence, it was not locking down properly. I pulled one off another guitar and now it works fine!
