Well i cant believe it myself but the hype was true! Just got the Motor city 2nd degree BB p'u and it is without any doubt the only p'u i have tried(i have tried many trust me!) that actually is voiced for VH I! other than the 1978 duncan custom i have this is it!
Everything you have read or heard about these is true! I am still in amazement at the tone that pours from the p'u
Highly recomended if you are after Ed's early tone and your existing pu is not cuttin it, makes the DSD/mighty mite 1300 sound like a buzzy, fuzzy tin can seriously
I am off to play the rest of the night,i will be pullin a all nighter screw work i will take the the day off tomorrow

A day off..that means you must make a clip...

of this new pickup...If it makes the DSD sound like a buzzy fuzzy tin ..that's good cause that's what they are.

It should be interesting to see if the blackbelt compliments the VH1 tone like the old SD's , which would be good.... or try's to take over and replace it like some modern pickups and the DSD.

MCP 2nd degree Black belt, alnico 5 and has a resistance of 8.9K but that resistance is really misleading, the BB has a huge output but cleans up great! stan and Motrock were not lying, this pu is the mind blowing!
I would not have spent $325 for two more if i was not blown away by these.
And keep in mind these are NOT just for EVH, this is hands down the best rodded PAF i have tried and i have tried these,
duncan pearly gates

Motrock is also flipped on his is stan(bmf5150) I thought that i would lke the thing but did not expect it to be as great as it is, it is one of those pu's you have to actually play to appreciate,it feels great under the fingers. It repsponds so much better than my duncans or dimarzio's. No matter how fast you lay the notes will not mush up and if you play a full open E with a good amount of gain every note in that chord stands out.

The only bad part is these are $150 each and no everyone is going to shell out that kind of coin for a pu although the frankenstein is $160? but thats a "official" VH pu

Sounds like what was old is new again..SD used to have custom shop EVH pickups as far back as 2002 with Identical specs...of course back then there weren't any super spec plexi's to make them glow ..so they must of died from lack of popularity.
But the proof is going to be in the clips from the gents with the new magic pickup....into magic amp...
The gibson burstbucker had identical specs also...and mismatched coil windings...and even appears on your list of dumped pickups....
At least this thread has produced an interesting anomaly ..another mysterious resonant frequency.

GG the black belt is alnico 5 and the duncan 78 is alnico II as is the burstbucker.
The 78 is a great p'u but does not have the drive of the MCP BB which with a plexi is important

If you read my one post here the reistance is very misleading even though it is a 9K p'u it has the drive of a much hotter model.

Wonder what gives it the extra punch? I just can't bring myself to pay $150 for any pickup.

I am not sure why it has that extra drive? it is really strange and i have nver had a 9K pu drive a amp like the black belt does? My 78 has a great tone and is very VH but it does not make a plexi go into any extra gain but the BB does? go figure i guess wade from motor city figured a way to keep the genuine tone of a PAF but with a good amount of added gain

thats why i said in my title that it is the VH I tone in a pickup,it pushes better and the tone is perfect.

It's the best pickup I have found!i have had one for roughly a year in a half !to my ears,if u took the evh Frankenstein pickup and made it a paf with little more highs ,that's what the 2nd degree sounds like to me
