So, that's a backup of the Kramer Ad Franky, And was painted by Paul? so, other than the 5150 and maybe the 1984, the rest of the backups were NOT painted by Ed?

This guitar was made at the time the Kramer Ad Franky (ca. 1982) and the giveaway Kramer (painted by Ed) were made. The 5150, the 1984 and the 'Hot For Teacher' were all made in 1984 for the 1984 tour...Then there were many backup Kramers made for the 5150 tour. I don't think any of those were painted by Ed...

He probably had mounts of guitar bodies delivered to him for experiementation and that many more made for "work". In the picture below there are already ten stripped bodies collecting dust.

Holy shit he relic'ed them himself. I've been wondering that forever. There are pics of the HFT guitar with Eddie playing it live when it's not relic'ed but later it's beat to hell.
Interpretation?! I thought I was playing it right!

So he thinks its a true original paf? Makes sense to put rubber band around bobbins to protect the windings and bobbins as in a build like that the side of the bobbins are highly exposed to bein dicked up. If it were a simple custom blueprinted wind then no worries-just make another one you know? So I think Ed was torn between the old pafs and custom wound hotter sounding paf style pickups.
I feel way better about my axe now-no shims or funky laminations-sounds like this thing is a real slapped together after thought almost in a way-not really that prestigious you know?

my ears tell me PAF, at least until the 80s stuff.

where does he say the body is ash? never heard that. Had I been there, would have axed totally different questions.

still, very cool. How much do they want for that guitar?

Even in that respect Ed was ahead of his time. If Kramer were to had made the 5150 model as production guitar Ed wanted it to be a reliced version, but Kramer werent to keen to the idea, who'd want to buy a new "beat up" guitar? now it's all the craze!

I emailed the guy who made the video and here is what he said:

Hey Chris...thanks, appreciate it. I do believe he did mention it was ash.

Thanks.

What a great vid! Check out the amount of wood grain you can see at 8:48. It's pretty deceiving until you get a view at certain angles.
