2nd Degree Blackbelt ROCKS!

Post by motrock » Sun Jul 15, 2012 10:52 pm

Installed my MotorCity 2nd Degree Blackbelt in to my Franky today. WOW guys this pickup is IT! Playing through my Friedman Tweaked VariPlex and also the Friedman Brown Eye.... it gave me CHILLS! This pickup is classic Van Halen all the way. Way more then any pickup I have played. I was getting a VH1 with the Brown Eye... which was unreal. With the VariPlex I was getting more of the VH2-Fair Warning tones.

I need to adjust the pickup height more. Gotta get more washers to do it. This tone will be complete when I get the new neck. The neck is the only thing holding me back. My current neck has too much freakin Tung Oil. It soaked in to the wood and made it too dark. This new neck will be brighter. Made sure of that! ;-)

The only thing that I have to do is get the pickup height adjusted. I want to get it fairly close. I need more washers and nuts! LOL

Can't wait..I remember some clips you did last year that were pretty damn good..and if your jumping up and down over the new pickup and the brown eye ..I think were going to be in for a treat.

If I can borrow a second mic pre and another good mic... its going to be awesome. I am going to take some time to really record something worth while. I want it to be good! I am going for quality as much as I can!

I about crapped myself when I heard this pickup with the Brown Eye. I put in Dave's EVH-like settings and the hair stood up on my arms. Seriously! Eddie should have used this for his modern tone. It stomps all over the 5150 III!

Oh. one other thing. The Phil-X Demo doesn't sounds much different then what I have going on in person. Like everyone does with the Brown Eye; they back down on the presence and mids. I think half of rig talk is f-ing loosing there hearing! LOL Crank the mids, treble, and keep the presence at noon or above. I never turn my presence below noon. Those guys are running there presence control at like 10-11 oclock in the dial. Friggin nuts! LOL Makes me wander if anyone that has done clips with this thing has stood in front of a Plexi or a Marshall the way it was intended to be. PRESENCE all the way!
