Brown or not?

Post by OokraMoO » Sun Jun 19, 2011 9:26 am

Guitar Rig 4, don't mind that mean street intro, I'LL NAIL IT ONE DAY! lol

Anyone think this is anywhere near the brown sound? It's hard to get that THUMP with a modeller on the recording that's where they really fall down I think.

Near aint the word ..you have the meanstreet tone nailed....vibe and all. I'm sure the "guitar rig " people out there are going to want to know a lot more and thumps are going to be the least of their concerns...good playing too!

You picked up on many nuances in the sound.

Really good attempt at capturing the tone, especially on software.

Wow thanks a lot guys, much appreciated.

I've been workin on this rig for a while now, and just that something was missing from it for me personally, so I was readin some quotes from Ed and I had always read about how he lowered the voltage to 90, well that's what I had been doing, but I read he said that for that first album (and prob FW) he cranked it to 140 volts. I know rumour has it this was a lie to fool the copy cats, but I tried it in the software, made sure the BIAS was cranked too... and it just seemed to add that tightness but at the same time the squishyness Ed gets on the single strings and when he's chuggin on the low strings.

Just a bit of food for thought for guys like Ralle...

It sounds a bit more overdriven than the original, but the Tone is there. 'Sounds great...

Thanks a lot guys, comin' from you guys I must be doing something right ROFL

Ok I've attached my Guitar Rig 4 preset to this post for anyone who wants it, it's what I used for the Mean Street soundclip, just for reference guitar specs:

Kramer Pacer 2010
Mahogany/Maple
Seymour Duncan Custom Custom
Standard tuning (blasphemy I know lol)

You may need to adjust the input and output to get the right amount of gain/sizzle.

Can't wait to hear some of you guys clips!

:: Edit ::

Oh and that noodle clip was basically the same preset with the gain a little lower, and the amp at 90v instead of 140v.
