That was the pre floyd era Franky.
I don't hear any tremelo in the rhythm guitar for Mean Streets...I hear it in the solo, which is overdubbed for sure...The middle solo, or the outro solo, is not the LP for sure...but the rest of the song is...It was, and is a common recording thing to use LP's and Strats to compliment each other -- I can hear the difference between the solo tone and the main tone...I can hear the maple cap give that cranky growl in the riff..

Unchained as well...the main riff is LP, all the way, solo is obviously the Strat...the intonation on the sus4 notes on the G and B strings will not sound that meaty, or as in-phase, on a Strat versus the LP...

my 2 bits...

TS is right - at least one tremolo bar vibrato here (1:57)

yep...you're right, it's there...I dunno, Friedman is right, we're chasing ghosts...I mean, listen to the Meanstreets intro solo, and then the intro riff...doesn't even sound close to being the same guitar...I guess that Franky is one magical guitar if it can sound like that :stars:

All I hear is a change of delay and reverb. The guitar is just more out front in your face with some delay and less verb-thats it, and its panned different and louder cause its a solo. Seriously those few things can change shit up alot perspectively. Thats it. You dudes need to spend some time I think with correct fx and what they can do. Not onockin any one here but listen-same guitar dudes.

Ed was just 'different' in lot's of ways back then compared to his peers.

Like MOST guy's would use a Les Paul for alot of the rhythms, as oposed to thier main axe (Schenker for ex. used a Paul & 100 watter for the rhytms on the second MSG album, V & 50 watter for solo's). Producers were pretty adamant about certain set ups. Ed was different and did what he wanted.

The destroyer rhythm tone was obviously a bit fuller in certain aspects to the Franky, the 1st album and the 3rd (Chris Holmes Destroyer) had the Destroyer fatness thing. Like 'I'm The One' is the Franky, and 'Feel YLT' is the Destroyer. You can hear the slight difference.
'Mean Street' is AWESOME sounding, having a great balance of cut and fullness/warmth. Still, it isnt as full as the 'WACF' tones (alot of Destroyer there).

'Dirty Movies' is straight up Gibson type rhthm tone. It is a bit fatter and fuller than 'Mean Street'. IMO, you can get to full and broad in the mids (HONK !) with a Gibson. A floyd imparts a VERY unique charector. You can hear it in parts where he doesnt use the bar, like the tapped intro (floyd) as well as the c to open A pull off in the main riff.
