Great preset you have there

I had to upgrade from GR3 to GR4 in order to import it and let me tell ya, GR4 sounds great! I can't get over how much better that "feel/touch" comes through now. It's a lot more than just a feature and component upgrade. If there's anybody sitting on the fence on upgrading to GR4 go for it! NI has the upgrade for $39 till the end of June.

I now return you to your regulary scheduled program.

Did what you said IloveMyMarshall, killer stuff man, I just tweaked the cab amps a bit more for a bit more top end, this has sort of that Beat it kinda vibe to it so I threw this solo together quickly, missed the 9th fret harmonic :( lol

enjoy!

great clips and great tone ! - just FYI to others out there, you can download the 4.0 demo and get full usage of all features but, after 30 minutes it shuts down.

I would've never given this software a listen , until you posted your clips ....

I messed around recorded some clips DI'd and went back and used the software as a plugin after the fact and came out pretty darn clear with no crackles or pops.( sorry no clips posted yet but, it does sound good with the 1984 evh rythm presets )

being a fan of Brian May there is a good Queen tone preset too...

I will try and upload your brownsound settings and check it out..

cool stuff,good post

In demo mode , I was unable to upload your settings - I don't know if I'm a fan of the treble booster and some of the effects.

T's been a long time since I've posted clips (tough audience here ) but, I used some outside effects and used the core tone of guitar rig for this clip.

Just the rythms to feel your love tonight -

I'm probably using it wrong - I'm using as a plug in , so I guess my direct signal has to be as dry and weak as possible.

Here is just one more clip -

http://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=10885841" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Just an extended lead of SGMD the 1977 live version, sort of..

good clarity and the harmonics jump, unlike modelers..

Only thing I did different was use a MXR Phase 90 plugin ( bet ya didnt know there was one out there )
and my favorite reverb called M-verb.

I literally recorded my Les Paul ( new guitar for clip ) so direct, it sounded like a dead acoustic on the non guitar rig track.
I some how lost a nasal quality I was hearing too.

It is a great program, Guitar Rig( Im not doing it justice ) I really want to try Waves Gtr3 but, you have to buy a 49.00 ilok key..
oh well ...I need pro tools at some point ..so why not......

Yes.. I took ILMM's advice but, I think the preset was 80's solo ... so I'm not sure of exact name I will check when I get home.
but, I tweeked it with the variac/bias/crunch parameters-something like that..

That first clip was using the EVH 1984 rhytm setting, too nasally and my direct track was too strong made the tone too gainy or something ... nowhere near the pristeen tone you have on your Meanstreet Clip. That really is spot on tonally by the way

I changed guitars and this SGMD clip has the volume backed off a hair and the pickup is ceramic ( DSD is ceramic right ? )
you were requesting a clip w/ DSD and this is closest I have to one.

But, my questions is ...are you recording DI to a track ( this is what Im doing )and then adding this as a plugin after the fact, so you can dial it in ????

I just go

Guitar > Line 6 Toneport GX > Guitar Rig 4 standalone > Record into Guitar rig tape deck

That's basically it.

I've noticed I can't load any presets at all or anything if I load it into a DAW like Fruity Loops, so I HAVE to use it standalone :(

no secrets here...You know I'll spill the beans :toast:

So the Phase 90 plug in - I just found it on the KVR audio site, like just sat. - I'm always trying out new plug ins to learn more about home recording and what-not ....some great stuff out there...just have to sniff it out..

Go to the kvr audio plugin data base ( KVR audio .com ) - type in MXR Phase 90 - about 12 different phase units will pop up
go to the one from Smart-electronix - it isn't endorsed by MXR but, it is the only one I've found the tries to replicate it(MXR Phase 90) it says so in the description ..so you know you found the correct one.It also says known not to work ,,,ahhh don't buy it for a minute..downloads quick with no issues..sounds pretty darn close once dialed in and I'm not even quite there yet.

it has 3 settings (I know the MXR has only one ) - I'm still messing with it but, some killer potential using it, I can tell you that .....I set the first 2 sliders just above minimum , it is still more than subtle ....sounds cool.but you dial it down further and will be more vintage script-like.

Later on...I really want to get that in-your -face Atomic Punk phase thing going and think this plug in can do it.

or I think I will sniff around for MXR type Flanger Plugin and see If can drum up a cool mix of the 2 like Ed used to....
just for a cool effect on breaks and stuff.

see thats what I thought - I had to use as a plug in due to demo mode - the tape deck in stand alone is disabled.

so I had to do it the hard way but, at least after seeing and hearing the potential... definitely a worthy investment.

I can't believe the quick response/attack but, then again could be from recording 100% dry DI first ..I don't really know...
