This was before I raised the bias so it's a little drier, but yeah.

I'm really enjoying these. What delays/harmonizers are you using on these clips? 'Bold' or 'Spongy' power on the Recto? 'Vintage' or 'Modern' setting on the Recto?

Thanks bud. Triple is in full power, bold, diodes. Dials are straight but presence is maxed and treble backed off to compensate. Gain is actually just over half. The higher gain stuff (Van Hagar) is the third channel, the rest is second channel but both channels are in Vintage mode which is basically an SLO type circuit, but a bit darker.
Amp is recorded bone dry, guitar - cable - amp, and FX are added in Logic. It's a stereo verb on the mono signal for DLR era, and the Van Hagar is kind of a long story involving two buses, two harmonisers and two delays. Effectively an H3000 thing.

I love it. I wish I knew what specific frequency that midrange presence is. It's in the sweet-spot for classic VH.

Thanks dude. I know what you mean. There's something about the way the high mids distort that's exactly right on this amp. It's a paper-tearing thing. My Cornford didn't have it and my Mark V doesn't quite have it. You can't replicate it in post eq, I think it's something in the gain structure. It also has that rubber mallet low end, so bouncy and cool. I love that these amps are so unfashionable

Always getting excellent tones Donny
. You sure expose the great flexibility that these "Modern" amps like the Fender 5150 and Mesa's possess. They certainly cover lot's of tone territory.
Have you ever heard of a guy named Adam Coney ? I think he is based there in England (by way of Ireland?). I have recently heard bit's of his work here and there like on Liam Bailey's album. Cool sounds

Cheers man, it's funny I've never been to Ireland. I've just played on a Irish guy's album but did it all remotelyTone Slinger wrote:Always getting excellent tones Donny.
