DITTO!!!! You are absolutely correct. Time based effects have to be after the preamp section.rgalpin wrote:i've said it a thousand times, sorry, (what's one more?) that the delay doesn't work in front of a cranked plexi - too much garbage with the dry and delay signal cutting eachother up in the pre amp section of a cranked amp - THIS CHAIN in this clip eliminates that problem - the amp isn't cranked, the delay remains in tact without the garbage distortion caused by a cranked pre amp section.
as simple as this idea is - i've never tried it - got to try it out cuz that clip sounds pretty killer on my laptop spkrs - assuming it will be the same in headphones...

Ed had his echoplex in front of his cranked Marshall, Uli Roth had his Space echo in front of his Marshall, Tommy Bolin, Priest, Maiden, etc, all used delays in front of thier tops, which were all ran a bit past noon, volume wise

I think they're referring to this post, TS. Not an echo unit, but a delay...

some devices work well in front: ad9, bm2, bm3, behringer vintage delay vd400 (very cheap bm3 clone
), el capistan, ep3 of course... I dont like to hit the delay-echo unit with the eq, what worked best with my amp was with the eq last in the chain -right in front of the amp.

My Delay has this WAH sound in the end of the repeats... allmost a QUACK...
.. I think this happends because of the preamp cranked, it does not sound that quacky when clean.... the EP3 boost in it is great though!

I don't chime in much or at all really. But I have a MXR 6 band with a silencer mod or something. Stays very quiet.bmf5150 wrote:I love the boss ge10 ,I use it with my plexi all the time!!never could get the MXR eq to sound wright ! Here is example of the sound I get !

Now this vid sucks because I recorded holding my phone between my knees, but I think you can hear the sound
This setup is weird but sounds close. phase 90> Flanger>EQ> analog delay>OCD>ADA MP-1 into return of a 5150III and greenbacks from '72.

Not a bad 'low volume' approximation there
. I heard the kid, so I know you are limited with the amount of volume you can use
.

Thanks. Yeah, I play at whisper volumes when I get to play. I started with Mr.Twistynecks eq settings and then adjusted to suit this setup. Funny thing is, I don't have a marshall anymore but I feel this is the closest I've gotten....and it's an ADA!Tone Slinger wrote:Not a bad 'low volume' approximation there.
