First, could we please get a subsection to post stuff like this that isn't tone related?
Second, did you guys see this? Ed standing by himself and no on noticing him. Look at all the guys around the stage and there is a legend 20 feet behind them just minding his own business.

I vaguely remember one of the "The osbournes" chapter where Ozzy was standing in front a night club and them a 14 years old kid stops at him and asks " Hey Ozzy, I'm a big fan!"
Oz: "thank you very much"
kid: So, what are you doing here?
Oz: I have a consert tonight
Kid: Concert?
Oz: yes, my band is playing here tonight and I have to sing
Kid: cool, I didn't know you were also a singer.

something like this, but I beleave that is true... The kid didn't have a clue who Ozzy was before the TV show... I think the same happends with that Poison guy that has a TV show looking for sluts...

To be honest, I think they are lucky... fame must be a pain in the ass.

Re: Ed at Wolfie's gig
That is odd no one would notice. But then again kids these days....well.... listen to the music today vs when vh ruled. Totally different and half of these kids could care less.
But why shouldn't Ed also be able to hang out like Dusty Hill walkin around out in the audience before his show strollin through the crowd during the opening act? Or so many other guys that just leave themselves open and normal?
I sat one table over from Kerry King once at a resturant, coulda tapped him on the shoulder but didn't bother him. He had a body guard bigger than shit eye f'n everyone in the room. I was too busy oggling his woman that had hooters that looked like they were gonna explode anyway lmao! And actually I can see why King would have a body guard-metal fans are fricken rabid crazy! But I really thought to myself, dude deserves a half way normal life and I just let him be. Just because you buy their music doesn't mean they have to entitle you to their lives. Look at what it did to Elvis and Michael Jackson (not that I am a fan) but its gotta be tough livin like that. And anyone that knows or follows any thing evh knows he don't like attention like that.
I laughed my ass of about the story where Dime and Wylde were partyin their ass off and called Ed at home at like 3a.m. and woke him up-but thats different than JoBlo crazy fan dude from nowhereville doin it.

Re: Ed at Wolfie's gig
Double edged sword. I used to see Steve Smith (Carolina Panthers) alot at my job. I could of cared LESS, but alot of the other employees would ask for autographs, etc. He wouldnt sign SHIT. One employee knew he was in and out of the place alot (Grocery store) and kept his rookie card close by. He was an arse and said "I dont sign when I have my kids with me". I felt like this, "Hey man, if it wasnt for your physical abilities you would be worse off than me, financially speaking, so please understand that if it wasnt for sports fans, you would probably be unemployed and mooching off of your Grandma or something" .
Ric Flair (wrestler) also frequented this Grocery store, and he was way COOL ! He would sign anything and didnt mind getting his photo made.
I think that the second a 'Star' or whatever, decides to think "God, these people (Fans) are messing me up" , They should remember what the alternative is.

Re: Ed at Wolfie's gig
I have an uncle who ran Nascar Winston Cup for many years. One time I was down in Charlotte and we went out to eat at a Japanese steak house where there were some people wanting autographs and stuff. I had never experienced anything like that but he was cool about it, signed a few autographs and joked around with the people. He explained to me later that when you get paid $millions a year to drive a race car that's part of the job, makes sense but it still seemed weird.

Re: Ed at Wolfie's gig
This discussion reminds me of when Ed agreed to meet with a "kid" (yeah, I'm old) for Make a Wish. If you go to Ed's Facebook page it is near the end of May. The "kid" is also very active in building replica Frankensteins and Ed signed a couple for him. He shared a video of the experience and Ed was genuinely concerned about his well being and acted very father like.
I know it was part of Make a Wish and planned out but he really took the time to engage with him. It was great to see.

That's cos he was the NATURE BOY! WHOOOOOOOO!Tone Slinger wrote:

For some odd reason, I've had a knack for running into "names" - both at work and just accidentally. Mostly good experiences. Never ask for autographs. I figure if you can get 20 seconds of conversation ("I really appreciate your work") and leave 'em alone....you at least get a good story out of it but don't ask them for anything.
But it's definitely hit-and-miss. Ed and Val were very cool to me but that was 1986.....I think life got a lot more pressurized for him later. Hoping it's getting back to being manageable for him again - and it sounds like it is.
